I know, but the continental meaning fit better for my reply.

I think it's been shown over and over again that the limiting factor for how fast skill updates is not coding time, but the decision making process on what to do about the skills.
As to the actual update: good. There's not a single bad thing that you can point to that came from this, unless of course you like griefing other people, in which case...well, sucks for you. It's nice to see that ANet actually will listen and fix small, easy things like this that do make a difference to the players.

I was getting ready to respond when I came across your post which pretty well sums up what I wanted to say on this topic. It amazes me how Anet fixing something that was bothering people can turn into a QQ thread....

I guess I ain't going to be the one to QQ it in this whole thread. I rather deal with what they have now than those yetis at the places those tonics are affected.

I still think both sides of the "big tonic arguement" are stupid.
I can't believe of all the things A.net could have put their time into, they waste it doing this.

Yeah, how dare that lone programmer waste a whole 2 minutes of his lunch break doing this simple fix, he should of just went over Izzy's head and fixed PvE and PvP in the same amount of time instead.

Couple of minutes? Lone programers lunchbreak project? Seriously?
You know, i'd hate to employ that guy. Because without due testing that just asks for somenthing very nasty happening at finale. I seriously doubt people would enjoy 007s during finale knowning that griefers can't grief.

Yes, lone programmer Joe Kimmes, the only dedicated programmer on the Guild Wars Live team, and a couple of minutes because all this does is transform X model into Y model (which already exists, so no model was needed to be made) when you're near Z thing, something that is relatively mundane (and done in-game in other ways) especially considering ArenaNet has a "code base (that) is exceptionally clean, well structured, and stable.". People always say WHY DID ANET WASTE TIME DOING X WHEN THEY COULD BE DOING Y, well buddy I wanna know how a programmer is related to fixing PvP/PvE in any way considering all he does is code things that the OTHER people come with (and this idea probably took little to no time at all to come up with). ArenaNet did not waste their vast resources, surely not the same resources it would take to do everything that people are suggesting (changing PvP skills, nerfing PvP skills, doing stuff for PvE, fixing bugs, etc.), for something as simple as this. The same thing happened when people complained about Gaile Gray's miniature and being a waste of ArenaNet time even though in reality it was just a programmer who was a friend of her's spending a couple of minutes making something for her, at no expense to the fanbase.
This change is relatively simple, and did not affect anything else. It was in no way "a waste of ArenaNet's time", considering it would have took very little time out of 1-2 people (pass by a QA person who isn't doing anything just to make sure, done!) who weren't doing or aren't related to anything people are saying they should be spending their time.

I, for one, applaud the effort to enhance the enjoyment of the events for everyone. I can appreciate the interests of the tonic users, who acquired their tonics with purposefully unique abilities from ANet, who I believe should have anticipated these issues. I'd also still like to see an Options feature to mute tonic sounds in town (as previously suggested in another thread) so everyone might be happy. It sounds like an easy fix to do ...

Funny, I heard that code base is mess from people who actually saw it (at least database related stuff is)
Well, I have a bit faith that other stuff is much better off. But "code base (that) is exceptionally clean, well structured, and stable." is not necesarily code base that is also easy to modify to do things that are very easy in theorycraft. Simplest things can take hours because you usually have several hoops to jump throught to weave it into codebase in clean and structured way. And doing something dirty & quick is how codebases become mess.
X needs to be identified correctly, Y needs to be applied correctly. Range checks cost cake. You need to *know* you deal with all kinds of random stuff like minipets (Wouldn't it be lovely if someone with Yeti minipet entered range and stuff happened.), squash serums, you name it or that they are irrelevant.
Asides from form-type effect actually have some harmles glitches, you never know where that can bit you in ass.
At least, and unquestionably, this grows code and adds stuff you need to consider in future when making changes.

The solution could of been worse, they could of made where by you recieved a 72hour ban when you went near grenth/dwayna.
Then what would the griefers do i wonder.....
